Hamdan has been sentenced to 66 months. News reports suggest that his time served will be considered. Since he has been at GTMO 61 months already, his sentence will be deemed served in short order. Bear in mind, of course, that Hamdan may not be released from military detention at the end of the sentence.
Some of you may be wondering how that compares to typical sentences for material support convictions under 18 USC 2339B, the charge most analogous to Hamdan's offense of conviction. The median sentence is 120 months, though the figure is 180 months if you focus only on those convicted at trial rather than by plea agreement (the Lackawanna Six defendants, for example, received sentences of 120 months or less after their pleas). If you're interested in the data behind all this, see the tables and appendices in this article (sorry for the shameless self-promotion).
